Qinyang Donggao to build high-purity zirconium oxychloride project

Qinyang Donggao New Materials Technology Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Guangdong Orient Zirconic Ind Sci & Tech Co., Ltd., plans to invest RMB737 million (USD104 million) in a downstream zirconium products project at Qinbei Industrial Park in Qinyang, Jiaozuo. The project is designed for annual production capacities of 60,000 tonnes of battery-grade zirconium oxychloride and 12,000 tonnes of high-purity zirconium-hafnium oxides.
Construction is scheduled to begin in January 2026 and will proceed in two phases. Phase I will build capacity of 35,000tpa of high-purity zirconium oxychloride, while Phase II will add another 25,000tpa of high-purity zirconium oxychloride and 12,000tpa of high-purity oxides, including 2,000tpa of nuclear-grade zirconia.
With downstream demand for zirconium products growing rapidly, the project aims to capture new market opportunities, expand into emerging applications, and strengthen the company's competitiveness and profitability.
