China's H1 foreign trade sets new high

China's total import and export of goods reached 21.79 trillion yuan (3.04 trillion US dollars) in the first half of 2025, a record high for the same period and up by 2.9% year-on-year, according to the General Administration of Customs. H1 exports rose 7.2% to 13 trillion yuan (1.81 trillion US dollars), while imports fell 2.7% to 8.79 trillion yuan (1.23 trillion US dollars).
In the second quarter, foreign trade grew 4.5% year-on-year, 3.2 percentage points faster than the first quarter. This marks seven consecutive quarters of growth.
In June alone, foreign trade hit 3.85 trillion yuan (537 billion US dollars), the second-highest monthly level on record, up by 5.2% from a year earlier. During the month, exports rose 7.2% to 2.34 trillion yuan (326 billion US dollars), and imports grew 2.3% to 1.51 trillion yuan (210 billion US dollars).
